Rachel Deepa Samuel

  • Ms. Rachel Deepa Samuel,

Students are told that school is their second home. This I believe holds good for us teachers too.  A home where we get an opportunity to re-live our childhood, to once again experience the pleasures and joys of growing up, and above all a home filled with bundles and bundles of contagious young energy! School teaching is my passion, and my greatest reward – smiles on my students’ faces.  A genuine ‘Than you ma’am’ or ‘you mean a lot to us ma’am fills me with ecstasy – my day is done.  A few lines of appreciation gives me a lot of satisfaction and I believe is our actual ‘bonus’. Personally I’ve learnt a lot over my teaching years one of which happens to be multi-tasking I am completely amazed at myself for the numerous roles I play simultaneously – a mother a counselor, a detective, an organizer, the list is endless.  Everyday opens new vistas of learning. School for me is also a refuge, a place where I can forget my personal cares and worries temporarily.  The innocence and pure, unadulterated love and affection of the kids push my worries to the hind most part of my mind, which I feel has helped me cope. School has contributed to my growth as an individual and I am deeply grateful to the almighty for having given me the privilege of not only touching a child’s future, but also moulding one.
